Cyclone Alfred: What you need to Know (Updated: March 4th, 2025)
Tropical Cyclone Alfred is forecast to make landfall as a Category 2 system between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast on Thursday or early Friday. The resulting high winds and heavy rain is expected to disrupt transport and logistics across Queensland and potentially New South Wales.
Shipping Terminals: All three Brisbane terminals have ceased export container receivals, and import cargo that arrived after Friday 28th February morning will not be available for pickup from the wharf. DP World has confirmed they will be closed from today until Saturday. Patricks is predicted to follow suit.
Air Freight: Flight schedules are expected to be disrupted due to severe weather.
Road Freight: Flooding and hazardous conditions may cause road closures and reduced driver availability, impacting last-mile deliveries.
Sydney (Watch Zone): DP World Port Botany has closed all empty container areas as a precaution due to high winds. Further impacts will depend on Cyclone Alfred’s trajectory.
